John Cena says London deserves a WrestleMania at sensational Money in the Bank event… but Triple H cautions ‘spectacular’ UK crowd that hosting Wrestlemania overseas is ‘more difficult than it appears’

Money in the Bank was the England’s first major pay-per-view in over 20 years and WWE made sure to pull out all the stops – including teasing a future WrestleMania event.

John Cena sent fans into a frenzy when he called for a future Wrestlemania event to be held in the UK

John Cena made a surprise visit to the O2 Arena and suggested that given the UK’s rabid fanbase, WWE should hold a WrestleMania in the UK for the first time ever.

It would be an unprecedented step for WWE to hold a WrestleMania outside of north America but given the success of Clash of the Castle last year and Money in the Bank this weekend, the UK has emerged as a prime market.

‘First of all, I’d like to say thank you to John Cena for putting me in an unenviable position right now,’ Triple H told reporters at the post-show press conference when asked about the possibility of holding the WWE’s premier event in the UK.

Triple H hailed the British fanbase but revealed hosting events overseas is 'more difficult than it appears'

‘No matter what I say, I’m gonna get battered for it. Look, as I said earlier, I have been coming here since the early ‘90s, and it’s spectacular.’

‘As far as WrestleMania goes, it’s tough. I wish it was that easy. I wish it was as easy to say as, “Like, man, that’s phenomenal there. Let’s go.” We’d be going to a lot of places.

‘We intend to be a global company. We intend to be global. So never say never for any of it, right? The intent is there.

‘It’s a lot more difficult than it appears, but the intent is there. And if there’s a way to get a lot of these international events done, we’re hell-bent on doing them.’

Elsewhere on the card, Roman Reigns was finally pinned for the first time in three years and it came at the hands of his own family, The Usos.

In the opening match Damien Priest defeated Butch, Logan Paul, Ricochet, Santos Escobar, Shinsuke Nakamura and crowd favourite LA Knight to win the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match and capture the coveted briefcase.
