When Lil Wayne initially collaborated with Eminem, he said that he was afraid, saying, “That boy is a monster in the Hip Hop world.”

During his interview with Taylor Rooks, Lil Wayne discussed how the ag gr e ssi ve nature of the ba t tle-rap era served as motivation for his artistic creations. He immediately thought of the so-called Rap God, Eminem, who was one of the biggest names in the 1990s underground hip-hop combat scene.

The five-time Grammy Award winner led an interesting chat as he discussed his collaboration with Kevin Durant, how his career has improved his songwriter-rapper skills, and how his ability to rhyme makes him similar to LeBron James. Rap music was quite competitive while I was growing up. When “bat tle rap” initially emerged, I was present. That was a rap style I could actually relate to.It was amusing, almost absurdly so. In other words, a comedian might make fun of one another. For them, it is not insignificant.

Weezy expanded on his discussion of bat tle rap’s enduring impact on hip-hop culture.

It was the same ba ttle rap. These are the people you have. As they form a circle, you are aware of… Before you arrive, Eminem might make fun of something you loved about yourself in the mirror, and then they might come back and say it again. Back then, that was a form of art. There are people there who still have battle scars from the past that were not caught on tape or photographed, and as a result, legends have grown. It is no longer with us. When it occurred, I was present.
